When should I start training my dog?

Puppies can start classes once they have had all their initial vaccinations, older dogs immediately. Remember it’s never too soon to start and never too late to learn.

Who is the training actually for?

The Dog owner; we will assist you in training your dog by teaching you a number of basic skills and showing you some of the techniques used successfully by more experienced handlers.

How long will it take to train my dog?

It is difficult to predict or generalise as every dog and indeed owner, is different, however our 10 week course is designed to achieve a defined level of control and social behaviour. It is important that the training continues on a daily basis and we recommend you spend around 20 to 30 minutes a day, broken down to individual 10 or 15 minute sessions, working and playing with your dog.

How many dogs are there in each class?

Each class is restricted to a maximum of six dogs per instructor ensuring everyone can receive the personal attention they need.

What do I need to bring to classes?

Your dog ! ( unless they are ill or in season and then we would ask that you leave them at home but you come along as normal). At the first session we also need to see their vaccination certificate and for general training purposes a favourite toy and possibly a treat or two along with plenty of pooh bags.

What happens if I have to miss a class?

We give you lots more homework! Usually missing one or even two sessions can be overcome by additional catch-up work at home but we cannot repeat class work as it would be unfair to the others in the group.

Is there any reason I could not train my dog with you?

We do not allow any form of cruelty or abuse and cannot allow an aggressive dog to join a class if it will be too dangerous or disruptive to do so.

Can a dog be trained by more than one person?

The short answer is yes, however it is better if just one handler at a time undertakes a 10 week course with the dog. Changing during the course causes confusion and frustration and is nearly as disruptive for the dog.

How is the training progress assessed?

Progress is monitored throughout the course duration and a final assessment conducted at the end.

How much does it cost?

The full 10 week course is just £60 payable in advance and is non refundable.
